ACCOUNTING

What is Accounting? Accounting focuses on measuring performance, and processing and communicating financial information about economic sectors. This discipline ensures that principles such as ethical behaviour, transparency and accountability are adhered to. It deals with the logical, systematic and accurate selection and recording of financial information and transactions, as well as the compilation, analysis, interpretation and communication of financial statements and managerial reports for use by interested parties. The subject encompasses accounting knowledge, skills and values that focus on the financial accounting, managerial accounting and auditing fields. These fields cover a broad spectrum of accounting concepts and skills to prepare learners for a variety of career opportunities.

REKENINGKUNDE

Wat is Rekeningkunde?  Rekeningkunde sluit rekeningkundige kennis, vaardighede en waardes wat op die finansiële, bestuurs- en ouditgebiede fokus, in.  Hierdie kennis, vaardighede en waardes moet die konstitusionele doelwitte van Suid-Afrika aanspreek en ondersteun.  Om aan die demokratiese omgewing te voldoen, dien finansiële rekeningkunde, koste- en bestuursrekeningkunde en ouditkunde as ‘n raamwerk om die kern van Rekeningkunde vas te lê en moet as ‘n vordering vir veredere ontwikkeling binne die vak gesien word.  Die vak ontwikkel leerders se kennis , vaardighede waardes, gesindhede en vermoë om betekenisvolle en ingeligte persoonlike en samewerkende finansiële besluite in ekonomiese en sosiale omgewings te maak.

 

 

MATHEMATICAL LITERACY / WISKUNDIGE GELETTERDHEID

MATHEMATICAL LITERACY

Math literacy deals with problem-solving, reasoning and analytical thinking in order to solve real-world problems in order to prepare students for life after school. The subject is an higher grade subject, and stands alone from math core in that it is aimed at students who do not wish to become scientists or who do not require math core as a subject. Content that is dealt with includes financial documents, tariff systems, income and expenditure statements, budgets, break-even analysis, interest, banking, inflation, exchange rates, map work, plans, modals, probability, taxation and data handling.

WISKUNDIGE GELETTERDHEID

Wiskundige geletterdheid behandel probleemoplossing, redenering en analitiese denke in terme van probleme wat studente sal voor berei vir die lewe na skool. Die vak is 'n hoërgraadse vak, en staan as ‘n vak op sy eie, omrede dit gerig is op studente wat nie b.v. wetenskaplikes wil word of wetenskap as vak benodig nie. Inhoud wat behandel word, sluit in finansiële dokumente, tariefstelsels, inkomstestate en begrotings, begrotings, gelykbreekontleding, rente, bankwese, inflasie, wisselkoerse, kaartwerk, planne, modale, waarskynlikheid, belasting en data hantering in.  

 

 

LIFE ORIENTATION / LEWENSORIËNTERING – Mnr. D Hanekom

 

Life Orientation is one of many subjects that is taught in all South African schools. It has the ability to influence students in a very positive manner. It can help them to make informed choices about their lives and how to go about it with the correct values, knowledge and skills in order to adapt, survive and succeed in a constantly changing world. The subject is grounded in training for the South African student, however it also takes into consideration global imperatives.

It is a holistic methodology that aims to enable students to respond positively to challenges in their lives and in the lives of those around them not only in their personal life, but also in their workplace. It strives to make students more reflective and informed, to create “The Perfect Balance”

LEWENSORIËNTERING

Lewensoriëntering is een van vele vakke wat in Suid-Afrikaanse skole aangebied word. Dit het die vermoë om studente op 'n baie positiewe manier te beïnvloed. Dit kan hulle help om ingeligte keuses te maak oor hul lewens en hoe om te werk te gaan met die korrekte waardes, kennis en vaardighede sodat hulle kan aan te pas, oorleef en slaag in 'n voortdurend veranderende wêreld.

Die vak is gegrond op opleiding vir die Suid-Afrikaanse student, maar dit neem ook globale imperatiewe in ag. Dit is 'n holistiese metodologie wat daarop gemik is om studente in staat te stel om positief te reageer op uitdagings in hul lewens en in die lewens van diegene rondom hulle, nie net in hulle persoonlike lewe nie, maar ook in hul werkplek. Engineering Graphics and Designs (EGD) - Me. A Meyer

What is EGD?

Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD) teaches internationally acknowledged principles that have both academic and technical applications. The emphasis in EGD is on teaching specific basic knowledge and various drawing techniques and skills so that the EGD learners will be able to interpret and produce drawings within the contexts of Mechanical Technology, Civil Technology and Electrical Technology. In the past this subject was called Technical Drawing and was purely Mechanical Engineering based, but with the changing world and scope of education, the syllabus was changed to include Civil Drawing and Architecture which altered the scope of the subject dramatically and made it more relevant to a wider variety of future careers.  Since the change, EGD has grown dramatically in numbers, both from the number of schools who have seen the merits of offering the subject and in the numbers of pupils who choose EGD as a subject to Matric. The aims of this subject are to learn the design process, draw and interpret both Engineering and Architectural Drawings, learn complex manual drawing techniques, complete complex design projects, looking at comparative research and last but not least time management skills. EGD provides the fundamental knowledge and drawing skills required for many career opportunities. Careers related to Engineering and Graphic Design can be found in the Trades and Engineering Fields.

Ingenieursgrafika en Ontwerp (IGO) - Me. A Meyer

Wat is IGO?

Ingenieursgrafika en Ontwerp (IGO) besorg die leerders van beginsels wat internasionaal erken word, in beide akademiese en tegniese toepassings. Die klem in IGO is op die onderrig van spesifieke basiese beginsels en verskillende tekentegnieke en –vaardighede. In die verlede was hierdie vak bekend as Tegniese Tekeninge, en was dit suiwer op Meganiese Ingenieurswese gebaseer, maar met die veranderende wêreld en omvang van die onderwys, is die sillabus verander om Siviele Tekeninge en Argitektuur in te sluit, wat sodoende die omvang van die vak dramaties verander het en dit meer relevant gemaak het om 'n wyer verskeidenheid toekomstige loopbane moontlik te maak. Sedert die verandering het IGO dramaties in getalle gegroei. In beide die aantal skole wat die vak aanbied, omdat hulle die geleenthede van die aanbieding van die vak gesien het, en in die aantal leerlinge wat IGO as vak kies. Die doel van hierdie vak is om die ontwerpproses te leer ken, die teken en interpretasie van beide Ingenieurswese en Argitektoniese Tekeninge, die leer van ingewikkelde basiese tekentegnieke, voltooiing van komplekse ontwerpprojekte, kyk na vergelykende navorsing en laastens maar nie die minste nie, tydsbestuursvaardighede. IGO bied die basiese kennis en tekenvaardighede vir leerders, wat benodig word vir ‘n wye verskeidenheid van beroepsmoontlikhede en -geleenthede. Loopbane in verband met Ingenieursgrafika en Ontwerp kan gevind word in die veld vir Handel en Ingenieurswese.

 

 

TECHNOLOGY – Me. A Meyer

What is Technology?

Technology is exiting and dynamic! Technology is based on theory, basic drawings and the opportunity to do research. The four main sections that are covered in Technology are Structures, Mechanical Systems and Control, Electrical and Electronic Systems and Processing. It consists of text, activities relating to the work just covered, allocated space to practice concepts just covered, as well as fun challenges and lastly prescribed Mini-PATS. The mini-PAT must be completed, by making use of the Design Process. The Mini-PAT is done individually or in groups, which helps learners to do research on different aspects, working together and dividing work equally between group members. Technology develops valuable problem-solving skills that will benefit every learner in many life contexts.

TEGNOLOGIE

Wat is Tegnologie?

Tegnologie is opwindend en dinamies! Tegnologie is gebaseer op teorie, basiese tekeninge en die geleentheid om navorsing te doen. Die vier hoof afdelings wat in Tegnologie behandel word, is Strukture, Meganiese Stelsels en Beheer, Elektriese en Elektroniese Stelsels en Verwerking. In History, we cover a wide range of topics, including Ancient China, The French Revolution, King Shaka, World War I, World War II, Cold War and Apartheid. Students also acquire valuable skills, such as essay writing and critical thinking.
